In response to the accelerated changes in higher education, and to lead the digital transformation of education, the Virtual Convergence College was established in 2022 at Chung-Ang University. In line with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there is an increasing emphasis on fostering creative interdisciplinary studies. The Virtual Convergence College aims to provide integrated learning opportunities for students to adapt to societal and technological changes. The college plans to support the development of fusion capabilities that can apply new technologies effectively. Equipped with specialized X-Space facilities for immersive media education, the department offers practical project-based education using cutting-edge equipment. Regardless of their major, students can easily access education in immersive media production. By participating in virtual reality-based classes such as extended reality (XR), students can experience high levels of interaction and learning engagement. Starting this Fall semester, the Department of Immersive Media will focus on planning and producing professional immersive media content, with its newly launched minor and double major programs. The department aims to nurture competent individuals equipped with a comprehensive understanding of startup environments, specialized knowledge, practical experience in entrepreneurship, and insights into innovative technologies.
