We are already half way through the fall semester. Perhaps you are also losing your excitement for the new environment while being busy in your daily life. Don’t you find it rather boring? For me, it feels a bit like drudgery to be tied only to routine stuff. As a social sciences student at Chung-Ang University, politics, economy, and social culture do interest me; but digging deep  into them as a major subject sometimes makes me feel trapped in a world that is interpreted only in those terms - as if I were wearing tinted spectacles.

So to escape from this mundane life, I consciously search for arts activities. For me art is a way to 'explore all possible worlds'. Diving into excellent art films or wrestling with crafts, I peek into the world that the artist sees. And it reminds me that there are various perspectives and ways of life than mine. Otherwise, I might exercise on a regular basis. Exercise restores the body that is neglected from everyday life. When I sweat during a work out, I feel that my body is not only a means of realizing the commands from my head, but also has unique characteristics and potentials of its own. It is thrilling to find new possibilities by running into a situation with my body rather than only my brain. I believe life will be much richer and more colorful if you hold various lenses to interpret and experience the world.

Here's my little secret to readers who dream of deviation. Try the trivial challenges first. For instance, pay a bit more attention to the next liberal arts class, or go out without a plan, or if you are a stranger to the Chung-Ang Herald, turn over to the next page. As always, our reporters filled this issue with interesting news on many issues and sharing their various views on them. I hope our writing will be the gateway to a small departure of your daily life. Your choice might lead you to a completely different end!
