From late October to early November 2023, the Center for Human Rights at Chung-Ang University held the 2023 Human Rights Culture Festival under the title of 'DIY (DIversitY) CAU, a Human Rights and Diversity Respecting Campus We Create'. The 2023 Human Rights Culture Festival was held on both the Da Vinci and Seoul campuses as part of the '2023 Support Project for the Expansion of University Human Rights Centers' hosted by the Ministry of Education. A distinctive feature of the festival was that it was a 'student-led event,' meaning that students planned and participated in the festival themselves. Twenty student-participation groups, including student governing organizations, clubs, and human rights organizations, participated in the event through open recruitment and screening. The student participation groups provided a space to spread awareness of human rights and diversity through agendas such as disability, women, labor, migration, LGBTQ+, environment, and veganism during the Human Rights Culture Festival. Through various programs such as films, campaigns, exhibitions, and cultural performances, students were able to further develop their awareness of different human rights.
