How was your 2023? You might be puzzled about how it passed so quickly, or maybe you have great feeling about what you did. For some, it could be the worst year to never be remembered again. Upon reflecting carefully over your year, however, you may realize that it had quite a few significant moments. So, how can we make a meaningful recording to not forget our year? Before writing down grand New Year's resolutions in your diary, how about first giving your own index to the meaningful events of this past year?

The term 'Year-end tax adjustment' is usually used from an economic perspective, but today, I'd like to approach it from a slightly different outlook. Get ready to bid farewell to 2023 with a small notebook and a light pen. Create your own year-end recollecting template, whether it's a simple list of words, a mind map, or drawings—it's all good. Then, write down what made 2023 special for you and what you loved. Start with the small things from your everyday life, like food, objects, books, places, and move on to the deepest gratitude you felt this year, the most memorable conversations, the best sentence you read, and move on to even your failures. As you calmly put your thoughts on paper, you will find that the chaos in your mind starts to clear. For me, “the most impressive change of the year" was entering Chung-Ang University. Leaving my hometown and studying at a university in Seoul completely altered my way of life. It expanded the world I could explore and gave me the courage to take on more challenges. In that sense, the "highlight of the year" for me seems to be my 21-year-old self, who is different from my younger self. Among the challenges, there were many failures, but I wouldn't leave any of them out. All of these experiences shape our lives, so I believe etching them in my mind and heart once again is another meaningful experience.

As you carefully reflect on the past year, you will start to grasp a vague sense of what emotions you want to feel, with whom you want to spend time, and what challenges you want to undertake in the coming year. Sorting through the past can also become another powerful tool for organizing the future. How has your year been? How about giving a warm embrace to the you who worked so hard this year? I wish you a warm year-end with your loved ones, and an even warmer next year.
