  Located on the 4th floor of student hall , Da C Side is the first black music school band in Korea and it’s been 8 years since Da C Side started and kept its position as the best black music school band among many others. Also there are many singers and rappers actively working in both overground and underground music scene.

   I was interested in hip-hop music since I was in high school and when I passed the entrance exam to CAU, I was so happy about joining Da C Side, which I used to dream of to be in. In the beginning of the the semester, I visited the band’s room and filled the entrance form. From that day, my life as a Csider started.

   First I want to tell you about our concerts. New students take their part in concert for the first time in June. I was a member of a song called “Anthem,” which has members who failed the audition. Although I failed the audition, it was really fun making songs with friends. We (anthem members) successfully finished our first performance and that was one of the most impressing parts of my life. However, though we did it, it was not the end but just a beginning of my life in Da C Side. As I said before, Da C Side is one of the best black music school bands, which means I have to be good to take a part of a concert. So I spent all my time in summer vacation practicing and practicing.

Later I had some chances to take some parts of concerts and finally it was winter vacation, which was the time to prepare for the concert for the new student orientation 2005. Many people do not know about this but the stage for the new student orientation costs lots of money and we had to do well as a qualified band to do our performance there. I came to school every singe day during the whole winter vacation to practice. Maybe people would think that it would be a terrible thing coming to school everyday in winter vacation. But it was fun for us who just love what we do everyday and we wanted to show every new student what we have done for one year, all the hard time we had practicing. The performance was successful and all the members were proud of themselves getting fruition of what we have done for a year. Although we finished our biggest concert, we are still practicing to show good concerts.

  Second I want to tell you about life in Da C Side besides preparing for concerts. Many people have wrong ideas about Da C Side that they think we only get gather to prepare for concerts but we do not. We are not here to just rap and sing but to know and get friendly with people who have the same interest. We, especially guys, stay in school over a night just to drink and play games. Do we only stay in school for the whole night only to practice? No. We do many other things that are not related to preparing concerts. All the members in Da C Side are banded together under the name of black music and that what always makes us together.

  If I did not join Da C Side, I do not think I would have left nothing recognizable in my university life and just spent years like everyone else did. Before joining military service, I want to make more memories with Da C Side, which gave me lots of special things in my university life.
